On 12 May 1st solo mini album title song "LET IT GO" was released. When SS501 main vocalist Heo Young Saeng was in SS501, his exceptional treble vocals capability has already prepared him for a route of being a solo singer. Now that he has start his solo activities, he still have other plans ahead.

Q: Year 2005 debut as part of SS501 group, released a solo album for the 1st time. Seems to feel the burden?
YS: Firstly looking forward. But feel the burden. During the group activities, when I am lacking, the other members can be a good fill for me. At the same time during the recording of variety shows and also the shooting of MV too. Now that I am doing all this alone is making me feeling empty. But now that hundred percent of the focus is on me which is a good thing.

Q: During when you are having SS501 activities, ever have the thoughts of having solo activities?
YS: In actual fact, yes. But our schedules were totally packed during that time. Initially there were plans to release solo album, but it's a pity that it wasnt achieved.

Q: Comparing to group and solo debut are there are kind of look you wanna potray?
YS: If mentioned about Heo Young Saeng, people will tend to think about ballads. SS501 songs are usually dance songs, but because I am the main vocalist, thus the image of me as a ballad solo singer is more deep in people. So I asked my friends: "What should I sing?" I got "sing ballads" as the answer. "How about dancing?" "You will be remain better singing." Thus I find that those people really dont understand my thinking. I myself also like dance songs. Ballads which only sing will feel bored. Dance song can enjoy with the audience together.

Q: "LET IT GO" is not the usually dance song feel.
YS: The producer of Kara's hit song produced this song. 4Minute HyunA did a featuring for me. It is about a girl who have the faith in shouting her love and also can leave the guy kinda dance song.

Q: You are the 3rd SS501 member that start solo activities. Park Jung Min and Kim Hyung Jun also started their solo activities. What are your thoughts?
YS: Although having solo songs is good, but solo activities is a bit lonely. Even though feeling lonely but still anticipate to see my own new image.

Q: Will SS501 still be together?
YS: In actual fact we did have plans to have a digital release. But due to that we are now in different companies and also are still in the midst of having our solo activities thus it is tough, everyone have discussed it. Members said: "If this is the case, let's build up our foundation by having all our solo activities, we will re-group again the next round." Even though we do not have any specific plan, but for sure that: "All the members still wants to be together."

Q: Kim Hyun Joong, Park Jung Min and Kim Hyung Jun now are now in different companies states that: "The difference between us is that Young Saeng and Kyu Jong are both in the same companies, thus compared to other members, they do not really feel lonely."
YS: In any case better than other members who are feeling lonely. But with Kyu Jong we still have friends and colleagues which we knew from previous company which is good. And in DSP Media who have worked together before, the current CEO and also Lee Hyori noona, thus the feeling is rather good.

Q: Other than singing, are u interested in acting or other areas?
YS: Many. For a long time I have been quite concerned about acting. Due to that I started out as a singer, thus singing is still remain top priority. If there is a chance, I wanna challenge acting in dramas.

They competed among bands as Super Junior and JYJ.

The SHINee boys got the first place with 42970 points, the second place was to SS501 with 37740 points, followed by JYJ with 24500 points.

He said he has the feeling of happiness which he didn’t feel even at the height of his popularity. Group SS501’s member Kim HyungJun took his first step in becoming a solo singer and felt the excitement of having a new start as well as gained confidence of being able to do everything at the same time.

Kim HyungJun, who was being loved by his elder brothers in SS501, broke off the image as a magnae and became ‘Standing alone’. He started his solo activities and said “I have the confidence to stand tall”. It was 1 year after SS501’s last activities when Kim HyungJun stood on the stage again as a singer. Through his solo mini album ‘My Girl’ released on 8-Mar, he stretched out his ‘flying’ wings.

“Things that used to be done with 5 members are done on my own now, so I felt the sense of emptiness and felt scared. I couldn’t sleep at night at the thought of how should I go about to get recognition, even the words ‘Will I be able to do well?’ becomes a burden that pressed on my shoulders. I know I am not able to give 100% satisfaction to the many people who are watching over me, but I am working hard to reduce, even if it’s just a little, the opinions of ‘Magnae, baby, cannot be alone’.

The reason for the confidence in Kim HyungJun starts from SS501 days where he was doing his solo activities as radio DJ and others.

“Due to the nature of radio DJ job, I am alone most of the time. I also gained a lot. Kim Hyung Jun is no longer the baby of SS501, he who have debut for 7 years will be standing on stage alone will show only the domineering side and not nervousness because of all his hardwork offscreen and a strong sense of pride. You can call Kim Hyung Jun a bright person, during the interview, he replied every question with smile. Although he still behave like a child some times, but he clearly knows what is the thing he wants. Not that he’s not nervous for his solo stage, but Kim Hyung Jun’s curiosity and confidence conquers his nervousness. Even though he’s standing on stage alone, you wouldn’t feel that other members is missing.

[To Kim Hyung Jun, what does SS501?]

"SS501 is the motivation behind Kim Hyung Jun now, is also the essential existence in my life. Members gave me lots of support and encouragement, they also say I must get Number 1. They have been following closely on my performance and asking me not to be nervous." When he talked about himself, he was very calm, but when he mentioned other members, he suddenly turns into a child who’s much loved by members.

"Normally when we meet up, we will go for a drink. I can’t really hold my liqour, but others member are very good drinkers. SS501′s Kim Hyung Jun who’s had captivated the passion of Japan as a Hanryu singer 4 years ago is feeling awe-inspiring recently. With a new title as Singer Kim Hyung Jun, he ambitiously released his first perfectly done solo album as he gives an undertaking to make his new stepping-out. However, his priority is something else. Because of the Japan big earthquake, his worry for fans is significant too. He wants very much to reciprocate the love he’s received from Japanese fans as one member of SS501.

Before he began the interview on his solo album, he did not forget to show his worry for Japanese fans first, “Because we’ve gotten so much love from Japan, I need to start planning real soon on an event to mourn for the Japanese citizens, no matter in what format it shall be”. His solo album that was sincerely prepared may be important, but his concern for Japanese fans is what makes him heart-warming to us.

Kim Hyungjun described his feelings of going solo as “the feeling of debuting again”. He who has turned from the maknae in his group to a solo singer now made us hear animation in his voice. His 4 other members who were always beside him are not present now, but he has with himself every day the determination of going towards a new beginning, and this determination is the same as what a newbie would have when he/she just debuts. Kim Hyungjun who illuminated gleam in his eyes calls this his ’2nd debut’, and no sooner than later, he stood on the stages, again.

(Q) First of all you’re now standing on stage alone and not as five. How do you feel?

(A) I’m not really that kind who gets nervous easily, but I don’t know why I feel very anxious this time. Not like my style right (laughs). Couldn’t control my expressions properly, and felt my stiffening body when I perform on stage. Though my first stage was quite awkward and a little pitiful that way, I don’t think it would affect my outlook in performing too much. You will get to see senior idol Kim Hyungjun’s adept stage manners in the next performance.

(Q) What disadvantages and advantages are there if you were to compare it against SS501 days?

(A) It was always doing activities with the five of us, but now I’m turned to stand alone and though I do feel nervous, I feel great too for being able to work alongside great people. The best thing of this all is that I can get to subdue the camera all by myself. I feel very excited everyday that I’d be able to show to everyone my different profiles. Of course, that comes with huge responsibility too isn’t it. My members are not with me so I need to work alot times harder right?

(Q) How did people around you & your members responded?

(A) It’s already been 6 years since I began standing on stage. I was shaking furiously on my first stage but now I have got to put forth a relaxing show for all. There was a good premonition at the beginning. All people around me told me the music was good. Haha. However now that I don’t have my members whom we always relied on and who always gave encouragement for one another, I feel a little empty inside me. We always play the role of support towards each other so I feel a little lonely. For this too I gotta endure it alone.

(Q) Do you contact the SS501 members often?

(A) We monitor one another and also do not hesitate at giving suggestions and comments to one another. We may be in different agencies for now, but we do come frank during discussions on which period to carry out activities at and the concept we’ll use. We joke about doing that in a way our personal activities won’t clash. Especially Park Jungmin who sent his support all the way by visiting my music video shooting location and also came as a guest to my fanmeeting venue. Our members are originally skilled by nature, so even if we were to stand forth alone, all of us will be able to do it well enough.

(Q) What is it you have in mind the most when you’re doing activities alone?

(A) More than anything else I want to let know of a brand called Kim Hyungjun. It will be something that only I can do it, no matter what it may be, and I want to show it to people. I want to make it in a way that it will be oozing with a very liberated atmosphere once Kim Hyungjun appears. That’s why I wore many different outfits such as training uniform, formal suits etc and showed my various profiles in the album; similarly in music wise, I also showed a huge change. It’s really quite different from the strong stage atmosphere that SS501 had. Vocal-wise and stage-wise, there was less strength used and instead it was filled with a lighter spirit in the atmosphere. I want to become a dance singer who has with me my unique characteristics, only.

(Q) If there are any distinctive features in this album?

(A) From hit song producer E-Tribe to rapper Dokki and all other skilled veteran musicians who haven’t been able to collaborate during SS501 days have all worked alongside me this time. Dance song ‘Girl’ is my most favorited song and it was released first, while the song produced by E-Tribe hyungs that carried with it a unique feel was then selected to be my title track. If it has a popular melody, it’ll be easier to get the attention of audiences first. I also tried my part at being a lyricist for 2 songs. Because this is MY album, I want to fill to my heart’s content with words that I want to say.

(Q) DBSG who used to carry their activities alongside you all is now divided into two people; how do you feel?

(A) It’s a pity, but I feel they will work out well. Many past memories float in mind alot these days.

(Q) Do you have any new determination on any thing, now that you’re doing activities alone?

(A) First of all, I’m determined to no longer hold that tinge of shyness when I’m on stage. When I go on music programmes, I do start to feel my status as a senior. I hope to make it to an extend like, when juniors see me perform, they will feel proud and envious about me at the same time.

(Q) What comes onto mind when you see idols these days?

(A) When they go on to music programmes, they mix around friendly and seem to bond very well, and upon seeing that I felt glad. When I was doing activities back then at our best state there were so many male groups, but these days, it’s girl groups ruling the way. They even exchange phone numbers. They look to be really bonding well.

(Q) If you were to say something to your Japanese fans with regards to this time’s big earthquake?

(A) SS501 invaded into Japan since 2008 and has been receiving alot of love from Japanese fans. Though our members are now dispersed across here and there ever since the end of our full time contract last June with former agency, our members and I hope to give our helping hand in a mourning manner in order to thank the love we’ve received from our Japanese fans. My schedules in Japan may have been announced already but of course it needs to be pushed back. Instead concern was shown for me and I feel nothing but gratitude. Luckily our fans are safe and sound, and instead they worried for me. Once again, thank you to the infinite love from our fans.

(Q) What’s your aim for this year?

(A) I want to receive the Bonsang award with my solo album this year. First and foremost would be to stand up high in this music industry with my name. But still, I hope to do activities in Japan as soon as possible, and also juggle musical activities. I want to do many different activities.

Q: Kim HyungJun-ssi, long time didn't met, what have you been doing all this while?

A: Although don't have any album activities, but was performing for musical 'Cafe-In', and also working on the forming of the pro-gamer team. Not as a singer but using my time and chance to challenge other area. The challenge of being a musical actor is really interesting, and has very good experience, but because of the performance schedule and also personal practice, almost had very little time to rest. This mini album was also producing concurrently together with the musical performance.

Q: Not as SS501 Kim HyungJun but as solo singer Kim HyungJun releasing your 1st album, how is your feeling?

A: Until now, had been performing as SS501 group member, solo activities is certainly not an easy task. Responsible of everything alone, thinking of everything alone. Everything have to be done alone, seems like there must have all kinds of challenges in my life originally.

However, the kind of excitement for starting (activity) alone and the nervousness of standing alone on stage co-existed in my heart, it was just like during the trainee period, the excitement and nervousness during the debut, 1st time stepping on stage, now this feeling is even deeper, this is my growth and drive force to move forward. Until today, I have been working diligently just like when I am in SS501, there are still a lot of fans giving me support during my solo activities, therefore will definitely show even better side to everybody in my solo activities! Hope to be together with everybody, then will definitely do well.

Q: Your New album is going to release. Please introduce.

A: Because it is my first solo album releasing using my name, so when producing this album, was very worried of the music direction. Until now, the styles and genre are different from other songs, had tried all types of style, had been worrying non-stop thinking of a unique style, until finally found E-tribe and Rado to produce the music together. Producing songs which I wanted and satisfied of and with a charming style.

Also, in this album, have put in a lot of effort in order to bring out my own personal image, showing my distinctive voice, in order to show even better masculine charm, has put in a lot of effort on the choreography, will have changes comparing with the previous style, please try to find out about it!

Q: Is there any special incident during the preparation of the album?

A: Em... special incident... First of all, now could only remember I have put in a lot of time to digest the album preparation. Musical OST recording, dance practices, vocal practices and etc. For this album sales, has even included filming schedule and fan meeting in Japan, doing everything simultaneously. Physically tired and weary but enjoyed everything. All these were the happy process when I am preparing for the album, will get more force like this, right? ^^

Q: How's your normal life? Do you have any free time?

A: There is nothing special, although the living pattern is different from others, normally will also work, from there took out some time to relax. When resting, most prefer to stay at home, is trying hard to spend time together with my family members which I treasured most.

Em.. Recently if it is something more special, has interest in making Plastic models. Once I have time will start to assemble, in a very short period concentrating in assembling. After completed, will feel very contented looking at the final model. Very great! In the future, during my free time, I will like to concentrate in learning to make music. Has been wanting to learn to compose all this while, in my next solo album, will want to have my personal composition, the real Kim HyungJun style song. Cool! Really very contented. Will work hard to let others experience it, please keep in anticipation.

Q: Not long ago held a fan meeting and showcase in Japan, how's the responses?

A: First, really very happy and thankful! It was a very enjoyable experience. Starting from fans who welcome me in the Japan Airport, and also fans who had been watching me on stage during the event, really thankful for you. Ah! The fan that left the deepest impression, although not feeling well, had been staying on till the end, until sending me off the event venue. Seeing their look, I am really touched. Could feel the heart and thoughts of the fans, and made a decision in my heart, "Must put in all effort to strive hard for Japan activities!"

Q: For the upcoming South Korea showcase, how do you feel?

A: Just like the meaning included in "Putting on the first button is most important", cannot determine a lot of thing during the start. So at certain level felt a little burden. Although will feel like this during SS501 debut, but now I am alone, putting on the first button of my life, so while exciting is also nervous. The most excited part is to be able to see my fans!! Because they are my friends which I have most wanted to see during this period. During this activities will still be together right? ^^ I think it is because of fans then there's me now.

Q: Will also make your 'solo debut' in Japan, please talk about your feelings and plans.

A: Last time during SS501 period had done a lot of activities in Japan. From now on, since it is my solo activities, whether will be able to fulfill the anticipation of the fans? When thinking about this will be nervous and a little fear. However, is full of anticipation of going back to Japan once again. Seen the fans during the 19th February showcase, had gained some courage. In Japan, via Avex, will have concurrent album sales and showcases during April, will also participate in TV activities and has plans for performances.

Q: Determination of future activities! What is Kim HyungJun's direction?

A: As long as won't hurt my health/body, will want to show more. First of all, will work hard to be a singer as a whole, and also just like challenging in the area of musical will want to try going into other direction. Each of you who are watching me, listening to my music, if you feel the joy because of me, I will work even harder to show all that I can perform, and also using now as a start.
